Amsterdam Meet-up Details – May 4

I’m currently in the Netherlands, and I’m hosting a social meet-up in Amsterdam this Saturday. Here are the details.

Date: Saturday, May 4, 2013

Time: 2:00 pm (14:00)

Location: In front of a statue in Vondelpark (exact location)

Why a meet-up? When I travel I often receive requests from locals who want to get together and meet in person. Some people also ask me how to find others nearby who share their interest in personal growth (or some specific aspect of personal growth). Meet-ups are a nice way to bring people together who might otherwise never connect.

Meeting people face to face is also my preferred version of social media. Hugs are better than smilies.

If this interests you and if the meet-up location is accessible for you, please come join Rachelle and me in Vondelpark, meet other locals, talk about personal growth, and make some new friends. And be sure to hug us when you see us. :)

This is our first time in Holland. We’re currently staying with friends in Waddinxveen. I can’t pronounce it, but it’s beautiful here. Our friends even have their own horses!

We spent some time in Wageningen and the Grebbeberg today, including driving and walking around the beautiful countryside and visiting a Dutch windmill.

Saturday will likely be our first day in Amsterdam (unless we go there on Friday too). We might also be in Amsterdam on Sunday, perhaps to see some of the Liberation Day festivals, but there are no plans for other meet-ups after Saturday.

It might rain a litte, but it shouldn’t be too bad. If it rains we can always duck under some nearby trees.

Based on the number of emails I’ve received, this could potentially be a pretty big meetup. Depending on how many people show up and how crowded it is in the park, we might move to the nearby Blue Tea House after a while. The tea house is a short walk southwest from the statue. So if you do come to the meetup, try to be there roughly on time. We don’t always stay in the same spot.

We had a great turnout at our Berlin meet-up last week. I expected 10-20, but almost 30 people showed up… including some who traveled from as far as Denmark, Austria, and Romania. Some people stayed for 6-7 hours. I don’t expect the Amsterdam meet-up to be that long since we’d like to explore some of the city too that afternoon, but you might want to bring some drinks and snacks just in case it turns into something very social and you feel like sticking around for a while.

Hope to see you there if you can make it.

Bewust leven! :)
