Help Me Decide What to Create Next

As I mentioned in my 2011 Focus post, I intend to experiment with my business model this year and do things differently than I have in previous years. My first step along those lines was to begin offering phone consultations. I’m happy with how that’s been working out so far.

My next step is to develop and release additional products and services. The main challenge I face here is that I have more ideas than I can possibly implement. It isn’t clear to me which choices will provide the most value to people, so I want to pause and gather more feedback first.

When it comes to topics for self-development products, I could create interesting products on time management, subjective reality, habits, self-discipline, social skills, life purpose, online business, the law of attraction, etc. There are dozens of great topics to choose from, and for any topic I might choose, I know there are many readers interested in exploring that topic more deeply.

Then there’s the choice of format. I could package new content in many different formats, such as books, e-books, audio programs, videos, teleseminars, webinars, live workshops, home study courses, and more. What’s most important to me is matching the delivery formats with my readers’ preferences. I know that people are reading my blog posts, but what else might they like to see? More audio? More video? More workshops? A webinar or teleseminar? An in-depth home study course?

After 6+ years of regularly interacting with my readers, I have a pretty good feel for their major problems, challenges, goals, and desires. The discussion forums are especially helpful in that regard. But I’d like to take this a step further and deepen my understanding with a more structured approach. Consequently, I created an online survey to ask you what you’d like to see in terms of topics, formats, etc.

Here’s the link to the survey: Pavlina Product Survey

The survey is all on one page, and most questions are multiple choice or matrix-style checkboxes. There are optional comment boxes for every question and a few open-ended questions at the end if you wish to share additional feedback. It should only take a few minutes to complete it if you only answer the checkbox questions. But if you want to give me more detailed feedback, there’s plenty of space to share your thoughts.

None of the survey questions are required/mandatory, so you can answer as many or as few of them as you’d like. Just click the “Done” button at the bottom of the survey page to submit your answers.

Understanding patterns is important to me, but I’m not merely going to review the aggregate data. I’ll also take the time to read through every text comment.

I’ll let this survey run for several days at least, and then based on the results, I’m going to pick a new product or service to develop and then dive right into it. I’ve set aside about 30 days to focus on that. I don’t have a topic or format picked in advance, so the results of this service will dictate what I decide to do.

If you want to help nudge me in a particular direction by letting me know what’s most important to you, I’d very much appreciate your feedback. Please tell me where you need the most help and how you’d prefer to receive that help, so I can do a better job of serving you.
