Since we have a holiday weekend coming up (Memorial Day), I thought it would be fun to host a picnic-in-the-park meetup for any followers of my blog in Las Vegas who’d like to get together and hang out and be social.
Here are the details:
Date: Sunday, May 29, 2011
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: North Tower Park in Summerlin (45 Park Vista Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89135), see Google map of location. Nearest freeway exit is Far Hills (from the 215). Let’s meet at the picnic tables in the cluster of palm trees in the middle of the park (should be easy to spot).
Feel free to bring your family, kids, dogs, slaves (on a leash please), etc. There are free parking spaces wrapping around the south side of the park.
I figured an early evening meetup would be best since it might be hot during the day, and I want people to feel comfortable. The weather has been shifting a lot lately, so it’s hard to tell. The current forecast predicts a high of 76 on Sunday, but the surrounding days are supposed to be much hotter, so who knows if that will be accurate.
Let’s make it BYOFAD (bring your own food and drink). If you want to bring extra food to share or barter, that’s entirely up to you. My blog attracts people with all sorts of different diets, so I figured it’s best if we don’t overcomplicate things. This week I’ve been eating 100% raw.
Hopefully Sunday won’t be one of those super windy days we’ve been having this month. If it is very windy, bring heavier food. 
I have no idea who else might plan to go to the park that day, so if it’s already crowded near the picnic tables, we can sit on the grass near the tables instead. There are 4 tables in the middle of the park, and each table can comfortably seat 8 people.
This park has a nice big grassy area in the middle. You’re encouraged to bring anything you might enjoy on a picnic such as Frisbees, games, etc. There are also kids’ playground areas on both sides of the meetup location.
I can’t predict how many people will show up, so I’ll remain detached from outcomes and see what happens. If we get 30 people, we’ll have a nice party. If no one shows up, I’ll just eat by myself and feel sad and unloved. 
There’s no need to RSVP. Either show up or don’t.
In other news I’m currently in talks with a couple Vegas hotels about booking some more live workshops. I’ll be checking out potential meeting rooms next week. The earliest I’d schedule any workshops would be in the Fall. If you want to be notified when new workshops are announced, be sure to sign up for the free newsletter. Whether you’re able to attend this meetup or not, have a great Memorial Day weekend. And if Memorial Day means nothing to you, then you’ll have to wallow in your own greatness this weekend.
